The missus sent me that via msn, now she said that everyone in her office can open it, yet its a link to her hotmail inbox and into an email and the attachment to that email...

I'm guessing there using a proxy/cache server of some description...

nope....need a username and password.

Sounds like they share an internet cache of passwords could be scary

Nope, the file accessed looks like a direct access (i.e if you had logged on already - the security would be assumed). If accessed via a cache it would just present the local copy of that request. Where as if we went to get it it would detect a request for someone elses mail box and prompt us for username and password.

No, it's probably just the content that's cached, i.e. the proxy's already fetched that page for your other half, it's cached, so anyone else that asks gets the cached copy of the page, not anyone's password or whatever. While they might be able to view that page, I'd be very surprised if they could navigate anywhere else in her mailbox.

I've signed in and tried it, I cant see it working unless its a cache thing or unless there logging into her hotmail account...

If they're working for the same company, they're probably all having their internet connections routed via the same cacheing proxy server. No mystery there.

They all work for the same company yet but have seperate net connections, where she works is part of the local Uni so its unlikely to be the same network I would of thought...
