I had to replace a part inside the cocking mechanism twice (apparently it was a known issue according to the air rifle specialists in bolton ) which looked like a small cylinder with a flaired edge on 1 side.
Eureka .... its called the spring guide

The best HW80 I have shot was a venom custom job, was on a FAC running around 32 ft lbs. Could hapilly shoot to 70 yards, may have gone a bit further but scope didnt have enough mag.
my HW80 is a Venom Lazer guide....just told Lee actually. I had it when I was 17 new, old style stock (I'm left handed, didnt want topay for a lefy hooker new style) and when I was 18 I spent all my birthday money on Lazerglide from Venom. That is still the best money I'e ever spent in shooting. Shorter piston movement, just quicker. (HW80's are way too easy to FAC so shortening the piston travel is a clever idea)
They recrwoned the barrel that I had carbined myself with my dad's (t)rusty hacksaw, and when it returned it was heavenly.
Still is, all this time later.
But Knox is the most right....I'm as suprised as he is that I didn't take that guitar apart!!!!
