Macross Yamato figures YF-11,YF-19,YF-21 FastPack / Standard

    Hello,

I have a few queries concerning the MACROSS PLUS Yamato transformable Valkyrie figures.

Except for the obvious colour differences and packaging, what other differences are there between:

    1. VF-11B & VF-11B Fast Pack

    2. YF-19 & VF-19A

    3. YF-21 & YF-21 Fast Pack

Are they all the same quality and size of 1:60 scale or are they 1:55 scale like the Bandai Valkyries?

I want to buy the VF-11, YF-19, & YF-21 but I’m not sure if I should go for the “Fast Pack” editions, the standard ones or the “A” VF-19A instead of the YF-19?

Any info will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

You're older than me and you're looking at buying several of what, after a quick Google, appear to be knock-off Transformers...

Yes well, we all have our passions now don't we?

Actually these are far superior quality to transformers. Consisting of 60% metal and 40% hard plastic, these are some cool toys to grace your book shelf..

Not to mention the fact that these were the fore-runner to the Tranformers toys, indeed one of the TF toys "Jetfire" (AKA "Skyfire") was pretty much a direct copy of the VF-1J, albeit with a slight paint job and some new stickers..

    That is true!
Also, that specific "Jetfire" Transformers toy, is going for a pretty hefty price tag!
One might consider for a small lone

However, I'm not sure if it's made by Hasbro or Bandai?

Anyway for the Yamato figures, this is what they replied to me at some other forums:

The only thing I remember hearing off the top of my head is that the Fast Pack version of VF-11B have addressed the joint problems the originals had. Yamato dealt with weak joints by beefing them up a bit. I suppose you can say they had hip replacements. I guess there have been issues with tranformation problems between the different modes that the new versions no longer have.

Also the color of the Fast Pack versions are slightly different than the originals. Not to say this is a bad thing, just a different shade. But you already know that.

I am not a major collector so I really can't be of much help. I have original Macross stuff like the Bandai 1:55 scale VF-1J. As for Macross Plus, I just remember hearing that the joint issues people were having has been fixed with the Fast Pack.

well im not sure how much is changed but the older ones have a screw problem on the middle joint. i also think the fast packs use a lighter/cheaper plastic, but i cant confirm that.

My Transformers, Macross & Zoids collection is stationed on my book shelf.
    I'll post pic later on.

Oh, by the way, since you don’t seem to need it anymore, will you sell me your Jetfire mech?

It will be a fine addition to my collection

Really??? Still got my jetfire up in the loft, in what I would consider to be very mint condition. All the red armour pieces and fully boxed. Maybe it might be worth cashing in on it.

    Hmmm........

Well, that is what I read about the "Jetfire" at Transfomers archive some time ago, but I don't know if it's true.
Those guys could have made it up, just to raise the price for their ebay auctions on that toy alone.

Anyway, how much are you selling yours for?

    Concerning the Macross Plus Valkyries:

Well, apparently there are more differences than just the colours and fast packs.

    http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/...oys_yamato.htm

It seems that the earlier YF-11, YF-19 & YF-21 had severe problems with the knees & hip joints and were subject to easy breakage after just a few transformations!

These problems were fixed in the later revised “Fast Packs” & VF-19A versions.

That's the same fault that the Jetfire's would get, the hip joint would snap, luckily mine never did
