I know I drink a lot and consequently have a fuddled mind, but I'm sure I saw a Paris Hilton song on MTV a month or so ago? I suppose it could have been Avril Lavigne or Kelly Clarkson or someone, but I'm sure I remember thinking at the time 'one more string to her bow of ultimate lack of talent'.

Still, if she's got Cathy Dennis involved, the songs probably won't suck. As an unrepentant lover of pop (shove it up your ass if you disagree ) I'm a massive fan of Cathy. One Step Closer by S Club Juniors is but one of her genius songs.

Not so much of a big surprise, as has been mentioned the music industry just isn't about talent anymore. Talent can be added with computers, and popular songs/tracks can be produced with very simple music - just look at 'bands' like Busted, McFly, Fightstar - All of their 'songs' are basic power chords with the odd embelishment, but generally very simple.

That's how nu-indie has taken off, the strokes, killers, hard-fi etc all use very similar, simple patterns.

heck even some of the music I love is like that - alot of metal is for the most part very simple, just played insanely fast. Difference is with the solo's I guess, some truely inspired work on some of those.

Alot of people think that Paris looks good (personally i dont agree, but still), and her name is worth a lot of money. I imagine that this will be a similar story to Victoria Beckham - a couple of singles that sell well enough due to her fame, but after that she won't be heard of again...

lol that's ace, finland does produce some ace music Finntroll, Sonata Arctica, Norther, Nightwish (still good even with Tarja's recent bitchyness) All ace bands 3 of which I met at thirteenth day festival last year


edit: Wow it reportedly takes Lordi 5 hours to get the band looking like that(!) A lot of effort before each show...
