What happened - an explanation

As you may have noticed, we've experienced some problems, and it has been decided to restart the forums from scratch. This allows us to tidy up a lot of things, and to optmisethe database, which had been getting unwieldy.

The upside is that it should mean an overall improvement inthe board, but the downside is that we all start again, postcount-wise.

The first implication of all this is that everyone has to register again. THis will, of course, reduce the membership database by eliminating inactive accounts.

Several people have asked about Avatars.

I have reset the post count level required for a custom avatar to 100 posts for a limited time. This will probably be a couple of weeks, or so.

Please note, however, that this is not an encouragement to a blatant spamming session. If we see that, we'll "amend" post counts accordingly. Probably to zero, so you have been warned

This is an opportunity, however, for those that had custom avatars to get them back relatively quickly and easily, AND for those that were some way off the 500 post requirement to get there more quickly.

To those that were just short of 500 posts, I can only say we're sorry, but it isn't feasible to edit postcounts for everyone manually.

The board appearance (colour scheme and graphics) will be changing, but that is currently towards the bottom of the list. Please bear with us on that one.

It's the text displayed under your name, currently saying 'Junior Member'

Once a certain number of posts is reached, an option is enabled which allows you to type what you like in that space.

Why not just set the custom avs to 25 cause ppl are gonna spam like pap.

they wont, its only 2 posts a day over the 2 weeks. If they do there post counts will be reduced.

Choose one you like though, as if you have 120 posts and then the minimum post requirement for an avatar goes up to 500, you won't be able to change it until you get to 500. Which is the reason why people had Christmas avatars in March.

Well, it turns out that we have been hacked by someone. We are investigating this fully, meanwhile we thought it would be a good time to do a full reinstall of the forums
