    Durham's a nice place

About 10 miles from me. I went to Sunderland uni and i cant see how Durham can be any worse. The support i received from Sunderland was pathetic! I'm still waiting for a few assignments back even though i have emailed them about 10 times over the past few months. I Graduate in....... 7 days

Hehe slick, unfortunately I am realising it's getting a bit boring

I'm doing natural sciences officially but only because economics was full, doing 4 Econ, 1 business and 1 sociology module, should be changing to pure econ next yr.

Durham uni's good, it's just there's nothing to do in the city, especially since they got rid of the cinema. Now there's only the touristy things like seeing the cathedrale which won't appeal to students and there's loads of old man's pubs, that's about it.

If you're looking for things to do though have a look at what the Gala theatre has on, they do a stand up comedy night every few weeks which is a good night out. Other than that you'll probably have to get the train to Newcastle, which is only a few quid.

Yeah Walkabout's quite good, it's packed on fri/sat but I think it's thursday when they do a live band night which is great. Walkabout's food is sometimes a bit dodgy, I know a couple of my mates got some burgers there and had food poisoning for a week. Varsity's not bad but I normally avoid it due to some of the people who normally hang out there. Is hide new? I'm not sure I've heard of it, or I might have been in and not remembered

Other suggestions for pubs would be "The Angel" which is a bit of a rocky pub if that's your sort of thing. The Woodman's at the top of claypath which serves cheap alcohol and also has loads of pool tables and darts etc. and has a few awards for best pub. Also if you want some really cheap drinks at the start of the night I think it's called "the coach man" or "coach and eight" or something which is just by olivers sandwich shop 2 mins walk from north road, which serves pints for just over a quid
