I'm currently with egg and found them to be really good, it's just now I have to start paying interest Iv'e done a bit on google but there is soooooo many I thought I'd ask here and get some first hand insight if possable

Have a look on MSE, there is a good section on credit cards there.

I stay away from the evil things so can't offer much first hand advice!

Having worked for one, you need to now research who your applying with. Some offers such as GE's 3% cashback card are hand picked by underwriters, whilst others dont mind credit tarts so much. As mentioned, MoneySavingExpert is a great site for this kind of information.

I have had a go and got it all wrong!

Best deal I could see (0%, no transfer fee, low rates afterwards etc) was with the Post Office, but after the application I head nothing for a month, chased 4 or 5 times and eventually gave up. The next best I could see (from Guardian Money) was a Cahoot card, but I failed to notice it wasn't actually 0% , until the card arrived three weeks later. SO I have given up. At least the Cahoot card is the lowest normal rate I have seen. I'm paying 9.8% APR. Some well known cards are double this (Barclaycard)!

One of the reasons I have given up is that (PO apart) they all appear to have the Balance Transfer fees which make the whole deal less attractive.

try again, 9.8% can be beaten easily, try the capital one card or halifax for long 0% deals

I heard on tv that the charity ones dont even charge a balance transfer fee like these
other 0% on balance transfer tricksters. I think nspcc is one of them.
