In the end it may be worth just going for it, I really don't want to do it but I would really like the cash!

It's not so bad once you get into it to be honest.

Just keep applying, you'll get a job eventually.

With supermarket jobs you have to remember that they like to hire internally so you get
your foot in the door and then apply for the job you wouldnt mind so much.

Maybe that's not such a bad idea, because they did ask me why I wanted to work there .

Didn't exactly say "I want this job because I'm skint and need to save up for a car". Just tried to sound professional, probably sounded like a rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish

I didn't get the first couple of jobs I applied for when I was your age, and my first job was truly awful (food stand at Showcase Cinemas - don't do it, honest!), but then I got a job as a cashier at Comet and that was pretty easy and well paid (for a retail job).

Once you have a job, you'll suddenly be more employable...

Yeah, I bet. I mean.. even if one job is listed for work experience at least they know that they're not going to have to train you..... just got to keep trying I guess!

May be a bit easier when I get my GCSE results too. Although Sainsburys didn't ask once about that.

    Exactly.

Once you're in the 'circle of trust' lets say, you're in for the rest of your higher education life .

Supermarket jobs are ideal for students, everywhere else either wants you to

    a) Work there for the rest of your life
    b) Work there for at least 2 - 5 years
    c) Work full time

Supermarkets give you part time contracts (+ Overtime if you want it, and there's plenty of the stuff) and they understand you're only available for say, the summer, and then you've got Uni to consider.
