My Internet + web related is knackered! :/

I keep gettin this from Sygate Firewall

    Somebody is scanning your computer.
    Your computer's UDP ports:
    19526, 48933, 2400, 48115 and 18262 have been scanned from 194.168.4.100.

Who the hell is it? what is it? And what should I do?

I'm going to disconnect my modem overnight as I'm VERY paranoid!

Someone help me out here, I cant even log into MSN or load up google for help!!

Email isnt working either (Outlook Express).

    Nick

i dont know what the port scan means, but you wont be able to access google and other american sites due to about.net's atlantic backbone being down, or something..

    194.168.4.100 is NTL's dns server mate ;P

Your mail should be working when you wakeup, as said previously, most of the UK are having problems at the moment due to the TAT14 pipe (mucho gigos pipe across the pond) being down.

If this happens again, try the following:

    - Use a decent DNS server I use nildram (195.112.4.4, 195.112.4.7), hell... I use them all the time, much more reliable
    - Route all your net traffic through a foriegn proxy, I have been using 193.251.169.190 (port 8080, based in Algeria I believe) tonight, and its been pretty good, even if rather slow.
    - You can also route msn irc traffic etc etc through proxies

Anyway, Notts NTL is fine atm mate, so no need to worry...until next time (which will no doubt be soon with NTL )
