On a possibly completely unrelated note:

I can't help thinking of the Jack Russel who belonged to a neighbour of ours and would come over to play with our dog every day. I was about 13 at the time and thought he would like to see the new kittens (about a month old) we had from the stray cat we'd adopted six months before. The kittens took one look at him and went into maximum-scare-mode and he was OUT OF THERE! LOL.

This is so true Cats and Dogs soon get used to each other, i think if you get them both as babies they will grow up to make fantastic companions for each other ( want pics!! )

Our Cats were 5yrs old when we introduced 8 week old GSD pup Max to them.... and Max soon learnt that Cat = Boss, when Budweezer was alive they used to have spectacular fights,Bud was evil would never leave him alone, everytime he walked past Max he had to have a pop at him, even if Max was curled up alseep.

Was really sweet though the last couple of weeks of Budweezers life, he'd follow Max about and sit inbetween Max legs, even if Max was eating Bud would be there and as soon Max curled up on his bed, Bud would curl up alongside of him, I swear it made him feel secure and protected with Max, and i'm sure Max could sense he was poorly, he used to hate Bud going anywhere near his bed ( so of course Bud knew it and would sit there just to wind him up ) but not when Bud was ill, he was happy to have him there cuddled up to him

Max really misses him, we were talking about Bud the other day and i called his name like I used to at mealtimes, Max's ears pricked up and was looking around to see if he could see him i felt guilty then, it was really sad

Stella likes to play sometimes, on her terms and play when she wants to play, and god forbid it if Max ignores her, she hates it and makes his life hell

I'd like another GSD pup but tbh, Jon and I havent got as much time nowadays as we had when we had Max, it's a shame because I really miss having a baby to love

My cat and GSD are exactly the same, fight like borther and sister, but he'll protect her from anything. As next doors dog found out when it decided to corner her, then promptly got taken off his feet.

Nothing like taking a dog back to it's owner and trying to explain why it only has one ear now

He's called 'Dunno', as we couldn't think of a name it kind of stuck. No pics (got no digital camera right now) and yeah my dog was completely in the right, and came to heel as soon as I told him to.

Awww what a good boy! GSD's are very obediant, Max heels most of the time, except when he see's a playmate and he kind of forgets then, but if it's Dog he's not familier with he's very good at staying to heel

    This is our Mutt

Apologies to people who've seen him before

Lovely looking dog, mine has much more tan, he's still young though so he often forget's he has to do as he's told when he gets into something fun. A quick shout usually brings him into line though. The only problem he has is with aggresive dogs, any aggression he recieves is instantly put down quite vioently, which is great for a guard dog, but not so great when you're walking him to the shops

But thats more of a problem with the local area than with him, lots of people with, very aggresive dogs, and no idea how to control them. He's slowly coming round to the idea, but for a dog barely 10 months old I have no complaints. Equally if he see's a dog who wants to play you, he's the softest animal you've ever met.

Thank you and thank you Kaine! he does rock!

At least your always there with him when he meets aggression, i hate it when people rear aggressive dogs and have no idea at all as to how to handle them that's why these Dogs end up eating their owners and other people.

Some people i've come across think that because Max is big and soft it's fun to try and play fight and growl at him, it's the worst thing you can do to a Dog imho, i always say to them "What what you do if you were minding your own business and someone twice the size of you came up and started ruffling your hair and growling at you aggressively?" they always say "punch them" i say "Exactly, don't do it, your asking for trouble"
Though it's funny when he goes up to people with his Ball! i'm like " Oooh he wants you to play Ballio, you have to grab the Ball off him" they don't even attempt it as he likes you to grab it out of his mouth while he makes scary growling noises and bares his teeth sounds bad but he loves it!!! there's only me and Jon that plays it with him though, he'll come to you with his Ball in his mouth and he'll nudge your hand with it until you play

Iv'e never seen Max aggressive, I hope i never have too he got bitten on the leg once by an aggressive Bull Terrier that wasn't secured properly, Max just snapped at it and carried on walking, animal got a good kick in the knackers from me though and I reported the owner to the council for having an unsecured dangerous Dog.

Yup Dunno is exactly the same he loves to wrestle over the ball and play rough. Scares most people to death, everyone who knows him, knows he's only playing and is safe as houses.
