Selling a phone, spinoff of eBay thread down the page somewhere

Hi folks,

I would like to sell my Samsung D500 (along with maybe my old SE T630 and Nokia 5210, lol) and on eBay they seem to go for around £80-£90, which would be nice, except the chances of me actually receiving the money and not emails from a Nigerian fraudster are minimal these days.

So any advice? Chance it with Ebay? I'm not fussed about the older phones but I'd like to sell my Samsung while it's still worth something.

I've had a look at that recycle-your-mobile-for-money-i-cant-remember-the-site-url thing, but that only gives me about £40 for the D500, which is a last resort I guess.

My advice is to activate some of the 'buyer block' options in your ebay preferences.

You can choose to block bidders from countries you don't ship to, bidders with negative feedback, and bidders with recent unpaid item strikes.

You can find those options at: My account/ Preferences/ Buyer requirements

That should at least give you a slightly better chance at selling the phone successfully.

See what they go for - then set it at buy it now with an immediate payment option.

Your auction is not ended until the time runs out or someone pays for the item.

Avoids wasted sales as they can't get it unless they pay

I set auctions like that to block people who don't have paypal accounts - this seems to stop dodgy people as they can't be bothered setting up a paypal account...

and only accept paypal if they are verified, otherwise, you get virtually zero cover from paypal.

eBay is fine all you have to do is be an asshole with anyone who wants to anything other than pay by paypal and recieve the item. As soon as you hear the 'but' or 'can I?', then move onto the next bidder. Scammers biggest weapon is the sellers compassion and willingness to help people out.

It's business, keep it that way.

Well that was quick I listed it last night, and someone "bought it now" this morning, paid with PayPal etc, nice and painless
