    International Calling Cards?

    Hey guys,

Bit confused here so bear with me. Basically im looking for an international calling card for me to use in Norway, as im there on business for a couple of weeks. Has anyone been to Norway and used a calling card before? Its bloody expensive over there and im damned if im spending £1.50/minute to ring home.

Ive been looking at this website:

    http://www.planetphonecards.com/calc.asp

The prices seem to be quite reasonable, giving me 434 minutes for £20? Could I beat that?

    Any help is appreciated...

    Many thanks,

    Chris

I have a card I use here in the USA for calling home. It cost me $5 and claimed to give me 15 hours calling home. A half hour call later and it's 'used' 2 hours of my balance.
From talking to the many other foreigners here it's the same with all brands, you can't trust the numbers they give you.
It still works out very cheaply, so I'm happy. The important thing is that this brand has a local number to call which doesn't add any more to the cost.

If your going to have a computer terminal/internet with you, skype or some other VOIP client might be an idea.

Edit: Just for comparrisons sake.. £20.00 would give you ~1748 minutes (just under 30 hours) on skype when calling the UK.

Try MCI. They're very good and cheap, been using them for ages!

normally using a brit call card in norway will cost more than usual.

Try and find one in norway.

If you can get the recipient to call you back...

Get a local PAYG SIM card (assuming you have an unlocked phone). Get the caller in the UK to call you on a discount access number. Cheapest one on there is currently 8p a minute.

Alternatively if you can receive calls on a landline then it'll only cost the caller 0.5p a minute.

swift call (swifty card) was always the cheapest a couple of years ago.
to norway its 4p a minute on an 0800 number with a £20 card even less.
