    Washing Machine Mess!

First of all let me mention:

    - This is a new washer (3 months old)
    - This has happened before

Basically, in the picture you can see, a rather disgusting looking stain, emitted by the washer during its 'cleaning' cycle.

Tonight I've done a white wash&dry cycle, 40'c with 60min Drying. In the wash were boxers, socks and one brand new shirt.

Now lucky for me, the shirt is untouched. But all the boxers & socks have this stain.

    So...

    - What the hell is it?
    - Why is it happening?
    - How do we solve it?

This is not the first time its happened, I've lost an england shirt due to this.

And previously at our old place it happened.

Why us!? It must be something we're doing...

All ive used tonight, is some BOLD powder and Comfort fabric softener. Could too much powder do this?

It was a reasonably empty wash... would this cause the problem?

(1 shirt, 4 pairs of socks, 3 boxers)

    Anyone throw any suggestions about?

    Not all bad then

I would clean the drawers, remove the flexible hoses and clean, test the water from the pipe leading up to the flexible hoses etc

Does it happen on a cold only wash? Thinking rust in water feeding pipe?

    Just a guess really....

    Eye popping good!
There was a funny quote here

It's a brand new machine in brand new apartments, so I doubt its that. Anyway I'd have to call landlord to sort that

I'm wondering if it's a case of too much powder, I do tend to go overboard, thinking the more powder the cleaner itll be.

There was some left in the tray after the cycle... hmmm..

How much did you use? 1/2 scoop of powder is easily enough for for what you say was in the machine! It'd be probably be enough for a full wash infact!

Is this the same box of powder that you used last time this happened? (Bad batch?)

Are you using the machine as a drier as well? And are you making sure that they aren't getting stuck in the door/rubbing against the rubber?

Otherwise I don't know - check the filter for any stray kippers or something
