Have one in Manchester - you know you want too

Sorry I couldn't come as I was skinter than skint *again* but the 3rd of Feb sounds a good date as it's just after payday and I've got a mate who lives in MK so I could borrow his couch if I need somewhere to collapse and cabbage out.

And yet again i was the old man of the group. This is getting to be quite normal for me. At least (or perhaps unfortunitely) i didn't have someone ribbing me about pipes, slippers and coal fires.

What a meet – Really REALLY enjoyed it I honestly don’t think I can remember a 30 second period where we weren’t laughing.

A brief history of the day:

I met Tigg’s at new street after being quizzed by the police over a bacon sarnie (don’t ask).
We then made our way to the nearest Starbucks where unexpected chaos was unleashed upon us, in the form of a gift card and untrained staff. Tigg’s wasn’t amused with the situation, and I could have sworn that I saw flames develop in her eyes before the staff admitted they didn’t know what they were doing. A nice queue that almost reached out of the door had developed at this point though. Naturally I took the chance to stand a few steps behind her, point out to the people behind us that it was her fault in the forms of nods and tut’s. I think I got away with it.

Knox then met us up (in his classy, as ever T-shirt) and we proceeded to the pub.
The pub was a bit out of the way (I don’t know how hard it was to find for you non-locals), and some of the alleys we took to get to it struck the fear of god into me. Of course, the plan soon feel apart when we went to open the pub door, finding it locked and the cleaners unwillingness to let us in. Increasingly worried that we were going to get mugged, Tigg’s went and sat down on the benches by the canal while me and Knox guarded the bridge* that any dirty old man would need to take to get to her.
After about 30 seconds we decided this was a bad idea and went and sat on the benches too, being rewarded with a nice wet arse thanks to the rain the night before.

With the pub opening we all dashed to the bar, the two eldest of us being ID’ed before we had even ordered. Cheerfully we all had our drinks by 12:02 midday and sat down to wait for the others.
Mr Funkstar was the first to arrive with a big smile on his face.
Steve B and Misses followed about 20 min’s later. After coming into the pub and seeing Knox, he promptly legged it to a safe distance; ringing me before he would come up to us - just to make sure he had the right group.

Ensue more drinking, food from the bar, mucho random conversation (which I cant really post due to the nature of it ) and laughing all around. As 3pm approached we all agreed that it was unlikely that anyone else would turn up and headed off for a bit of shopping.

You would think that would be nice and simple eh? The minor flaw being that we went shopping for about half an hour, without anyone actually going and looking in any shops. After a quick laugh and joke about it, Tigg’s decided to take unnecessary advantage* of what id brought to light and decided to go shopping for shoes…..
In all honesty, you are great to shop with Tigg’s – “Oh I like those” then right to the till. Brilliant. All women take note

Turns out that Mr Funkstar has a bit of a plastic fetish, and ended up buying quite a few CD’s while we were out. Although I couldn’t remember what any of them were; it brought him closer to his 1000 CD milestone that he’s aiming for.

After a bit more shopping, we all settled in Starbucks for a nice cuppa and another chat.

Let it be a warning to all that Knox must not come into contact with any “emo” style people. The consequences can be somewhat, catastrophic. After a certain, lets just say “incident”, I had what felt like half of the world looking at the guy that was sitting next to me, I slowly slid to the opposite direction of the chair.

Steve’s pure randomness was the source of much laughter. How he manages to link conversations together is anyone’s guess. Sadly I had *just* turned the movie mode off on my camera when his Misses decided to give him a slap and string off a bunch of profanities in a strong Scottish accent. He looked terrified as we erupted into laughter

Tigg’s managed to steal my hat for a bit, and then actually realising after 15 mins that she was getting pretty hot with it on indoors. Although we managed to get a great “emo Tigg’s” shot of her with it on!

Oh, and if anyone ever needs a plumber, Mr Funkstar is your man

I had to dash at this point in order to get home. Not living far away though, it didn’t take me long to get back, shower / change, snap my glowsticks and get back up there, meeting everyone (minus Knox who had to get back) up in Newstreet just as Tiggs was leaving.

We went looking for a nice pub for everyone to eat in, but we couldn’t go where we were planning. After walking to China Town, I had to dash off once again to meet some other non-hexus people for the club I was going to. Hopefully you all found somewhere nice to eat

All in all, a dam fun day. Ive only covered the basics really, I just wish I could post half of the conversations

Thanks for the brilliant day everyone, I can’t wait for the next meet!

    Ade
