    AMD's K8L Benchmarked - Unofficial

He's my source, but He really shocked me with this.

    Leaked K8L info.
This is unofficial, so take it with a grain of salt.

I had to load the file which was e-mailed to me into ms paint, so I can cover up the name & number as per my souces instructions. Now, looking at this, I thought the L1 cache was 32 kb for a total of 64 per core.

I do find it funny, because AMD already said that there is no such thing as the K8L. I did read somewhere that they would like people to not use the name K8L, but instead to use Barcelona, AMDs next quad-core Opteron chips.

Smells like bull manure to me, but if it's true then AMD is back in the game.

Show me a CPU-Z shot and I might believe you.

Why would anyone who had anything to do with AMD produce results in a .jpg? Surely anyone that high up would produce a proper text report or at least know that you would be better off using a .gif for that image.

Quite - anyone could have (and probably has) cobbled this together as a joke. Context is everything.

And a pant-wettingly hilarious joke at that.

    Ooooooh my aching sides.

No Comment. If this is for real, the good for AMD.

I only would like to see them perform when they are released. Then I will see for myself.

    firstly - rolf

secondly - I know the above is only a joke but it exagerates a flaw in the original post, i doubt a cpu could make such a substancial difference to the fps, surely it's down to the graphics card.

Not when you run it a reduced resolution such as 1024*768 or below, as it effectively shifts the limits of the system back to the cpu

Hence in HEXUS graphics card reviews, you'll often see statements such as "CPU Bound" (the load on the graphics card is less than that of the CPU when running in low resolutions), or "GPU Bound" (The bottleneck is now at the GPU, as the cpu is waiting for the GPU to finish processing it's data - Typically seen at resolutions above 1600*1200 with all the eye-candy turned on )
