    Suggesting Council Projects

    To all,

I have a really good idea to showcase the latest music talent in my area, problem is i feel its more of a council funded project than a profit making idea.

The idea is basically, buy a warehouse, kit it out with a ok to good sound system and rent it out really cheaply to upcoming musical talent (bands, djs etc).

How would I go about bringing my idea to the attention of the local council, and what chance do I have they will even think about it before kicking me out of the door?

    Cheers in advance,

    Ben

Good idea, people could also use the place as a place to practice. Its often very hard to find a decent place, luckily I used to get on very well with a guy from my local pub. He had a pretty cool room we could use, although it would normally end up with about 20 people in there though at the end!!

You could possibly get a rough list of numbers, how much is it gonna cost? How many people would actually use it etc..? How would you get money back to them? They're gonna want to know all of that.

Possibly go to a local college and if they have a music course talk to the people on that! Maybe the lecturers would know who you'd need to talk to as well and maybe able to help.

What are based by the way?

Berkshire, in the bracknell forest council area. I go to college so could hand a few questionnaires to the music teacher and see if i can get a few filled out.

Costing, have to look into that, cant really do that without knowing what size area I'll have to play with, always worth a go tho.

just keep plugging ideas about giving young people something to do, keeping them off the streets, bringing the 'community' together and all that 'for the greater good'.
and if you can point out that by hiring it out for a reasonable fee that youngsters can afford i.e. not solely for those with stacks of cash - then the council will eventually be making moeny out of it. and we all know how money-grabbing councils are don't we...
you're more likely to swing it if you try and pre-empt their arguements for not having it thus not giving them the chance to retort a big fat 'NO'...present a well thought out plan and push it hard

    best of luck
