    Pre-Pay disposable credit card, (visa)

    Hi Guys,

Has anyone seen this yet? https://www.3vcash.com/index.html

They do pre-pay visa "vouchers". You register, buy a voucher (£20 plus - with a fee of course), and they print you a voucher with a Visa number on it, then text you the CV2 and expiry.

You can then use this number online just like a normal Visa until you run out of cash, then just chuck it.

I can see a few times when I might use it, such as slightly dodgy retailers you don't want to give your main details to, or if (like me) you normally use Maestro for everything, it'll be great for occasionally orders from the US.

Potential flaws are that they charge fees and a commission on currency exchange (no worse than pay pal though). And possibly, you could use it to register for something like a pay-pal account fraudulently, I don't know how carefully they check you out when you register.

    What do you all think?
They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.

It's an interesting idea, wonder if you need a credit to buy one?

Be interesting to know how many people who don't have a credit card would using this instead.

I can see refunds been an issue.

    Thats me

I'll have a poke next time I want something from the US and give it a whirl.

Am I the only one who's never heard of payzone?

Cahoot used to do (and still do I think) a 'Webcard'. When I was a Cahoot customer I used this many times.

A Webcard is a tiny application on your PC that you run when you want to pay for something online. You enter your security details and then the credit card limit. For example, if you want to buy a TV for £500, you could generate a virtual credit card with a credit limit of £600. A virtual credit card is generated for you (with an expiry date of one month from the date of generation). It shows up on your screen like a real credit card.

You just copy the number, expiry date and CVV digits onto your purchase screen and that's it! The transaction amount comes off your real Cahoot credit card.

I'm surprised that other card companies don't do something similar.

Good idea, will stop a lot of fraud, but I can see them being used for suspect purposes..
