    Evil ninja postman

I've just had a card through my door, saying the postman has tried to deliver a parcel but it needs a signature and I was out. Thing is, I've broken up for xmas and am decorating the house. And arguing about planes on treadmills.

I was very much in, I heard the letterbox go, I ran downstairs saw the card and ran outside looking for him, but he was nowhere to be seen - I live in a cul-de-sac, in the countryside, our front door is a way back from the road and though I could hear him drive off I have no idea how he managed to get back to his van so fast. What is really devious is that he had put the time on the card as exactly 30 mins earlier than when he put the card through the door. And that I have to wait 16 hours (!) before picking it up at the post office.

WTF is that all about? Why did he go to so much trouble? Is it really cheaper for the post office to hand deliver the card and make us pick up our own bloody parcels?

Pick up the parcel, make a complaint detailing the above. Dont expect post ever again

The post office people can be lovely, or they can be evil. It depends on where you live.

you sure it wasnt somone else that maybe stopped near your road and drove off after?

Also you dont have to wait 16 hours its just to stop people complaining when they go to collect before the postie gets back from their rounds. a few hours should definatly be long enough...

Not his fault that JJB Treadmill and RC plane were too big for the letterbox.

Our local sorting office used to just not bother taking the parcel. They would just pop the "whoops I missed you!" card and you would have to head down to the sorting office. Cant count how many times I've bumped into people from our street in there, and it didn't take us long to cotton on to what they were doing.

After a few complaints they now run a van around to deliver the parcels at about 7 am, then the normal post comes a half hour later.

Which is nice, because it means people are actually in the house when they knock.

My posty, Alan, is a god.

I get a fair few large parcels all year round... He always knocks and if there's no answer, he pops in the back garden and leaves the parcels in the back porch with a note through the front door to say so.

He's even signed for a few special delivery items before posting them.

    He's a top geezer!

See that's what I reckon is going on with me, he would literally have had to put the card in the box and scram at quite a pace to get away.

At first I couldn't work out how this saved them money but I believe they have sold the vans, used the money to buy beer, then spend the time they would have spent loading the vans, drinking and fighting over who gets to zip around on a moped dropping cards through everyone's door
