    how do i load a backup database in SMF?

    Hey, just got meself some new hosting and i need to transfer my backed up tables from my old forum to the new one. How do i do it?

    (am i supposed to use the backed up stuff?)

    If your hosting company uses cPanel you just need to perform a backup. You will then be able to find the SMF tables in the Zip or Rar file.

    you could do it the easy way, export from PHPmyAdmin and then import the same. But you would need to make sure you have the same MySQL details and also that you modify the SMF config file to point to your new SQL DB host.

    I bet after reading that you think its majorly complicated. Its not as complicated as it sounds, but if you don't know what you are doing its best to find someone to do it for you.

    I'm fine with this sort of thing so that's ok - i just thought that SMF would be kind enough to have some sort of feature that does it for you.

    iirc a DB copy doesn't do it properly (haven't used SMF for years though).
