Crazy keen to try this out:

It's invite only at the moment, but people with accounts can send invites to their friends, a la gmail...Anyone got one?

I'm queueing too
If I'm accepted, I promise I'll distribute my invites among those who post in this thread. hint hint....
Well, a friend who is quite senior at a mobile operator finally got an account, but he doesn't have any invites! I spent a few minutes trying the service out, and it's not bad at all.
Quality is better than your average web video (youtube etc) but it certainly isn't hi-def. Latency when changing videos was pretty good - maybe 2 or 3 seconds. When running normally the application was consuming about 80k/second down my company's 8MB line, so they obviously aren't upscaling the quality of the video based on available bandwidth. Not yet anyway. Also, we're behind a NAT router and I didn't see any upload p2p traffic being generated. I didn't have the app running for more than 5 minutes tho.
The app itself is pretty cool - lots of alpha-blending and whatnot. It feels quite "light" - small download and fast loading times. Some areas of the interface were a little slow, but it is still in beta.
As for content, it seems to be pretty much "demo" stuff at the moment. Surfing and music videos, that sort of thing. Time will tell.
Anyway, if I do get an invite myself I will pass them on.

This really isn't what P2P is good for imo.
I think that people like NTL are in a prime posistion to use a multicast technique to send 'frames' of data.
the reason is simple, my downstream is 16mbit on average, my upstream, not even 0.5mbit right now. That isn't very good quality video.
Channel4's OD service isn't bad, but not upto real time or anything like!
These things are in their infancy, so i supose its a case of watch this space!
