Printing my CV, but i want to pay extra and get nice textured paper, suggestions?

I have to start sending my CV off to find a placement for Uni. But a lot of people seem to use standard or just slightly thicker paper for this.

I've seen some companies use very nice textured paper but dont know where to get it, does anyone know?

Any art shop should have it a selection.

Personally i would just go for something like 120gsm high quality bright white paper and forget about any textures. Just like i wouldn't have any coloured text in a CV or multiple fonts.

Mine is all in Lucida Casual, has been for years now. Very, very nice font: different, but still readable and looks quite slick i think

    Yeah man, eggshell white!!!

Most Staples or Ryman's have a collection of laid or woven papers which have different texture effects

Conqueror do a fair selection of textured white papers which are available in small sample packs.

Try to get it printed on a laser printer as the finish is always better than an inkjet. Your school probably has one you can use if you ask nicely.

And remember, the paper doesn't count for crap, it what's written on it that counts.

I was just reading the last two posts and was about to write this when i saw your post :>

Just use thinker paper than normal, 100 or 120 gsm. Texture is overkill. Although if you insist, an art shop should be able to help. Staples or office world may even stock some.

Maybe you should consider a watermark of your initials and a slight cream colouration

you dont want to look to pretentious.
if you use a watermark and stuff, you should put "Paper Lover" in your interests

If you want to make an impression, then something like Conqueror paper with the watermark may be worth a look. But tbh, its what is on the paper rather than the paper itself that lands you the interview. After that it is all down to you

Success! I had a word with my course administrator who happened to have a whole ream of quality textured paper that the uni isnt using anymore, so she gave me 50 odd sheets.

To be honest Marcus they all want your CV in .doc format or .rtf format so that they can edit it to put their agency name on the top.

I suppose it would be worth it if you were applying by post but always try the companys website for a HR or Careers section.

Speaking of which a company just came back to me with an offer after 5 months, subject to a 'refresher' interview'. I have just written the email that includes the classic 'unfortunatley I feel it is unecessary since during the 5 months since the original as I had assumed having recieved no feedback that I was unsuccessful. I also feel that myself and the other candidates should have recieved better care over our application prior notification of the delay to our application'.

The companies name? Centrica, funny that when they send the gas bill, it always arrives on time.

Personally, when I was accepting CVs recently I made a point of at least sending an "I am afraid that on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful" email to all the applicants that didn't get to the interview stage. Even if you don't want them for the job, it's still better to politely notify them of that.

I had an interview with them and because they messed up they try to cover it up with a 'refresher' interview.

Besides which they asked me to take a pen and paper test, I have never done that at my level and it showed that they didn't know what they were doing. There was another that was worse, and quite possibly my worst interview as it was clear they weren't interested, i lost time and a days annual leave for nothing. The feedback was not complimentary.

@ nicomach: Agreed, been on the job hunt recently and most companies didn't even acknowledge receipt of the application and of those that did, it was the only communication I received.

On the bright side, just got offered a job yesterday! Some paperwork and stuff to fill in and such like, but
