    Do you all like Typo3?

Do you folk like Typo3? [Or am I asking this on the wrong forum?...]

I've used it before - should I stick with it or try something new?

    Apologies in advance,

Thanks. Why? Should I invest time in something better?

Meaningful silence. Sounds like that loathing is pretty sincerely felt, tigger.

    Righty-ho...

Arrrgh, I just typed a whole answer to that and It's just lost it all!

Mark, I've got no internet connection at home at the moment, so I apologise for not answering... just drop me a PM if you think I am!

I support 4 CMS's at work for various clients, Typo3, Curo, Plone and Cascade server I used to support Teamsite for Lloyds TSB also. (as well as our in-house bespoke PHP jobs too!) Typo3 I find very difficult to work with and there are more user friendly CMS's around.

I'm Content populating a new static site next week so i'm most likely going to get bored so i'll have a look into some of the other options. I had installed mambo at home to ahve a look at but having a London based Job means I don't get as much time as I'd like to develop for these things.

If you want a challenge, give developing for Plone a go as there is a lack of decent developers around at the mo.

    Aha, thanks....

    Dear Tiggerai,

thanks - I appreciate your advice, especially since you're busy now.

Interesting you recommend Plone. I'll have to have a look at that. I must confess, after years of writing my own steam-powered website in crude HTML, I was chiefly attracted to typo3 because (1) a VoIP firm I was doing technical writing for 18 months ago made me learn it to change pages on their site, and (2), it's free.

But I should widen my horizons a bit, you're right! Must try to think seriously about this challenge a bit...

    Mark

I use mambo for a little website I run, really easy to use. Nice clean interface and skinnable with themes that you can either make yourself or download from the mambo developer website You can download 'modules' which add different features to the site. For example a poll is a module, a slide show viewer another module etc.... Havent really bothered doing anything special with it for a while, but I think it doesnt look to bad:
