Talking Travelling Questions... France (Paris) and Germany (Roadtrip + Nurburgring)!!

    Hey,

Got loads of travelling questions and I'd really like to hear people's recommendations and opinions on things, so here it goes!

First trip; me and three of my mates are planning is to go to Paris for a week (4th July - 10th July). Already booked plane tickets with BMI Baby which worked out about £50 return from EMA to Paris CDG. We're planning to spend a fair chunk of time at ESWC 2007, but what are the other sites and stuff which are worth seeing. Already got a list of obvious stuff like the Eiffel Tower, Pompidou Centre, the Louvre etc., but are there any more quaint/cool attractions? Second question is about accommodation! Planning to just stay in a really cheap hostel or something (<£25 per night would be ace!). Anyone know of any good places close to the centre of the city?

Second trip! Me and some other friends were going to road trip (yeah baby!) down to Nurburgring in Germany for the F1 Grand Prix (20th - 22nd July). But! I have never been to Germany, never driven in a foreign country and never been to a Grand Prix so basically if someone could tell me EVERYTHING I need to know that would be ace! Stuff like what I need to do to legally drive over there, places to stay, things to see along the way, best place to sit at Nurburgring etc. etc. (I know, I know, I'm very demanding!).

    Thanks very much in advance!

    Suman

P.S. Why all the travelling you ask?! Last summer holiday ever before I (hopefully) graduate and start working in August, so just looking to do loads of special things that month!

The only thing you need to know about Germany is that there are no speed limits on the autobahn, which i'm sure everyone already knows

When i was in Germany we were going like 150 down the autobahn - still seemed like 70 though :/

La Grande Arche at La Defense has a pretty cool glass lift ride with an amazing view all the way down to L'Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysees, and climbing to the top of the Sacre-Coeur is also nice.

Also, a brief look at Shakespeare and Co. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakesp...%28bookshop%29) is worth doing.

Bear in mind you can drive the Nurburgring yourself for a small fee. Obviously not when an event is on! Not sure how many days before/after the GP you'd need to be there.

The Nurburg Circuit thats used for the current F1 series isn't quite the same as the Nordschleife

As far as Paris goes Montparnasse (the observation deck of the tower / office block) is pretty good - especially at night when the Eiffel tower is lit up:

And the latin quarter (near notre dame) is great for cheap but still decent food + bars.
