Radeon 9x00 issue *affects alot of them?*

only owners of ati cards radeon 9500 or better cards vote please, or the poll wil be useless

this is the only and most annoying issue ive had with my card that isnt gui related.

i want to knwo if any one else gets this, i dont know hte cause if its drivers, hardware or my setup generally.

ive only used this card with win2k so far rest of pc:
    xp1700+@2ghz
    nf7-s rev1.1 bios1.8 or 1.9 cant remeber
    512mb pc3200
cba to list hdd specs and other stuff as it shouldnt affect it.
    i use onboard sound.

only used the cats that came with it, 3.2's and 3.4s

    the problem:

upon entering most if not all opengl games there is a long delay where it seems its waiting to make the opengl display redering context (switch res + capture hardware)

it is not always as long or doesnt happen atall if i quit and start agian quite soon.

counter strike is special however, being the main game that i play it is also the most affected, not sure if al of this is my gfx causing it though.

every 1st/2nd/3rd attempt at joining a server i get "server verification failed" error, this might be my cs config or somehting though, it didnt used to happen and goes away on 3rd or 4th rejoin (i had won auth problems instead b4 i reinstalled which went away on 4th rejoin).
my comp also seems slugish, some maps i go down to 30fps for short periods

im runnign out of ideas to fix.

poll above to c how many get this

I use a 9600 pro, and I got the same CS problem (server verification).

It seems to half minimize itself to desktop, but still remain on.. hard to describe, but wierd. I rectified this by using the Direct 3d 800x600 rather than the OpenGL one.

only used the cats that came with it, 3.2's and 3.4s you definetly should upgrade the drivers, in my personal experience the older drivers have strange behaviour on my pc..

The best i've used so far are the 3.5's they run great

The 3.6's seem to have problems though
    www.omegacorner.com

But first go into safemode and remove the old control panel and ati drivers from add\remove panel

Then run Drivercleaner to clean out the old drivers
    http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/

    restart and install new drivers

using the omega drivers based on cat 3.6, I get no such 20 second wait, but I used to when using catalyst 3.4.

    Oh grow up.

Just about every graphics card has issues with certain games etc at one point or another. You're just as likely to get problems with nvidia drivers if you don't clean the old ones out first.
