19" TFT's

I noticed that 25ms on a 19" TFT is standard really, even on the new Iiyama Prolite 431S series.

Would I be better off going for a 17" TFT with a decent response (mainly for games) or would the 19" be OK?

I currently have a 19" CRT, so want something comparable for screen size.

it's all completely subjective anyway

and an 18" tft is slightly bigger than a 19" crt for screen size

why are you moving to a TFT (other than they look cool and take up less space), it just seems to have to spend so much money to get one which can equal a decent crt in terms of screen size and refresh rate... obviously if i had lots of spare money i might get a 19" tft to replace the current 19" crt i have, but it does everything i need.. and was free

The Samsung 191T is good enough for games and it's one of the older 25ms models on the market. I assume the newer ones are even better.

As already mentioned, a 19" TFT monitor has a larger visible screen size than a 19" CRT. You might want to look at 17"/18" models too.

I use two Samsung 171S at work ... good monitors but... tbh Im happy with me 17" CRT at home.

I'd probably opt for the Iiyama Prolite 431S 19", or maybe get the 17" version. Have one of those for another box and its brilliant.

IMHO TFTs have a long way to go before they'll be as good as CRTs when it comes to moving images, movies, games, etc. Too much ghosting and blurryness

Personally i didn't go for a TFT, I had the money to get one but instead i got a really good CRT, this way i didn't have to worry about response times and i know it was high quality.

I won't be getting a TFT until 2 things are done, firstly that they dont have a single dead pixel on them, and secondly, that they are a LOT cheaper.

You can get Sony Trinitron 21" monitors for 250 quid now anyway.

have to agree i bought x2 tft hercules dvi. recently both had some dead pixels and thats just not good enough for the £700 price tag
