HD 2900 XT with 1GB of GDDR4 Memory!

Well disappointed at the 2900XT. ATI have let me down, but Overclockers have posted this card for £330 due 28/6.

    I NEED TOO KNOW MORE!!!!

HD 2900XT is a good card considering the price. However the huge heat produced is a problem.

    Thumbs down

I've bought Nvidia the last few times but had kinda hoped this round of ATIs would be up for it, cause I've always thought a draw back with SLI was the 'same card' setup. Fancied a desent ATI that could been used to support a better card in twelve months rather than going in the bin!
I've been in denial; the R600 just doesn't cut it.

Doesn't really cut it compared to the GTX, but the recent driver updates have apparently improved things no end, and early DX10 benchmarks (which don't count for much at the moment) do show the ATI to have a distinct advantage. They also handle media far better than the high-end nV cards.

Personally, if I were to buy a new card right now, it would come down to the the 8800GTS 640mb or the HD1900XT, and I'd have the latter, despite the apparent heat and power consumption. Hopefully ATi will release an updated card, similar to what they did with the X1800.

Is there any idea of ATI will release an upgraded 2900xt in the .65nm so it will be faster and more importantly heat and power efficient??

Hopefully there will be so I will continue to wait for it.

I'm going to wait until then to decide my next GPU purchase - from either manufacturer
