    Which Screen and Graphics card?

I'm sure it's been asked before, but I'm looking for a new monitor. The 24" lot have taken my fancy, namely the dell 2407wfp, Benq FP241W and the LG Flatron L245WP. Any one have any views on any of these?
In addition to this I have no graphics card in my main computer..so I'll need to get a new one, I've been looking at some of the 8800GTS's, GTX's and the ATI 2900XT's, but am totally stumped on what to go for.

At the monent I'm favoring an 8800 GTX, for 320 ish and the BenQ screen, but would like some feedback on this setup.

Very recently, someone on here posted a link to a Dell system he configured. It included the 2407WFP monitor, for a total price of £500 inc. VAT. Computer was lowest-spec of course, but maybe still worth £200 if you wanted to sell it on eBay. I can't find that post, though. Anyone else?

Weeks ago, when they started getting cheaper, I asked our senior graphic artist about the 2407WFP, and he immediately knew the monitor... especially surprising, since he's mainly a Mac guy... so apparently the 2407 is very highly regarded for design work, and he was pretty stunned that they're selling under £500. But, he had no idea what they're like for gaming, and I still don't know.

You might want to consider an 8800GTS 640MB. eBuyer had this one for £216 earlier in the week, but it's gone up again. I would have one of those right now, except I didn't think there was any point rushing to buy one. I was wrong, and now I'm sad.

Here's that thread. Unfortunately, Dell's monitor promo has ended. It's now £390 to add the 2407, instead of £250.

Most other hardware stockists will have the Dell monitor for much cheaper than Dell themselves sell it for.

the dell 2407wfp has just undergone a refresh, and is called the 2407WFP-HC. UK release date is as yet unknown but should be soon as some guy called ericbunny on ebay is selling them (apparently he sells loads to different people seems reputable, but not for me).

but if you get a 24inch monitor, the FP241WZ from benq is considered to be an excellent monitor, and i would checkout hardforums.com for more info about displays in their display subforum.

8800gtx is also essential for 1900x1200 gaming.

My brother has the Dell, he did a major PC upgrade around a month ago, and it's a tremendous screen (personaly I wouldn't want a screen that big, it takes up a huge amount of space, I'd be v. happy with a 22").

Just over a week ago a load of us got together for a LAN party, he was running CS: Source and BF2 on it, looked very nice indeed and couldn't see any blur or notice any sort of anomalies at all

As another poster said you do want an 8800GTX with this screen if you plan to run at 1900x1200 and have all of the bells and whistles (AA/AF/HDR).

I'd not bother with the 640mb 8800gts, from reports it performs little better than the 320mb version and is not worth the extra cash atm.

And for the super high res of a 24" screen you'd really want an 8800GTX

I've purchased an 8800GTX, which is running on my 19" monitor at the moment...a little bit of overkill!
I'm thinking 24" might be a little too big, so am heading towards 22", as my desk would be a little crowded with a 24inch beast...any good 22/23 inchers out there? With a budget of 300 or so?

Strictly speaking the HC isn't really a refresh to the 2405 and 2407, but more of a completely new product. There is no analogue connection, which is what stopped me buying one, but obviously it is aimed more at the emerging hybrid work PC/HD HTPC market.

Ericbunny is fine by the way. I'd have no hesitation buying something from him at all. He's been around for a good while now.

Yeah ericbunny is a very good seller.

Oh yeah theres not much difference between a 22 and a 24 size wise so go for the 24 if you can,
