Re: 8800GT with 112 stream processors
I am quite surprised how well little the performance decreases even at 1900x1200 with 8x AA & 16AF. Looks like 512MB memory is quite adequate even for 24" monitors (we can see how that setting punishes 320MB). If one of the manufacturer can make a passively cooled version for £180, I would most likely jump in.
Re: 8800GT with 112 stream processors
Well compared to the 8800GTS, they look about shorter in length.
Re: 8800GT with 112 stream processors
its time for some comparative image editing i think

roughly between a 7900gt and a 8800gtx then

Nice bit of photoshop work there Madduck. A gtx will just fit into my case but it's extremely tight. A GT will fit nicely.
I get a 404 for the main page even with IE7 so does anyone know how much power these cards (are likely to) draw?
Re: 8800GT with 112 stream processors
20w less than a GTS, 85w less than a GTX from the comments.
Re: 8800GT with 112 stream processors
Thanks. If that's true then it just gets better and better. Amazing to think I paid £135 for a Geforce 2 Ti a few years ago and now we are getting stuff like this.

Hopefully it is a indicative price!! :) Anything above 150 to 160 quid is pushing IMHO. The problem is the next best Nvidia DX10 card is the 8600GTS which is not that great and is around 100 quid.
Also the 2900pro and 2950pro(or whatever it is called now!!) will be around 150-160 quid too. Hopefully all this competition will make prices drop a bit as what happened last year!
I wonder how much the 256mb version will cost and whether this will mean the 8600GT/GTS will have further reductions in price?!
Re: 8800GT with 112 stream processors
Well this has convinced me to hold off on building a new system with a 320mb GTS I hope they hit the shops soon and cheap as I run through a native 1080P LCD though I'd rather see it with a 2 slot cooler (better to have extra cooling capacity than sail too close to the wind).

Glad you brought that one up!
To be honest I see this as a step backwards, if the truth be told.
Much rather lose another slot on my M/B & have better cooling on my video card.
Plus the two slot coolers (most of them) blow the warm air out of the back of the case, where's the GT going to blow it?
