Monitor making sparking sounds

Sometimes when I'm playing a game, and only during a game, my monitor will start to make sparking and crackling noises from the back of it. Near the top it sounds like. No changes visual wise, but just that sound doesn't seem safe to me.

I have a 22" Hannspree Verona.

just wondering if it's something to worry about.

Yea it will be the power cable or kettleplug normally.

If it's not a badly plugged in cable it could be the HT transformer on it's way out. Had a couple of CRTs that did this before dropping dead.

I have a 17" Dell monitor that does this - caused by a faulty VGA cable

I'm using a HDMI Cable. The sound doesn't seem to be coming from anywhere near the cables. More to the top of the monitor.

Sounds like the voltage/sparker thingy that sits on the end of flourescent tubes. A smart tap might sort it out. Or break it

Alternatively, try upping the brightness and seeing if it goes away.

Tried that, nothing

It sounds like a Geiger Counter. (the radiation detector)
It only usually does it when it's bright images or video.

I seem to have fixed it. All I done was mute the monitor speakers...which weren't actually giving any sound anyway. But it's wierd that a bright image on the screen, would make the speakers make that sound.
