New VGA Cooler for 4850 help

I recently Purchased a Zalman VF1000 for my 4850 wanted to keep it cooler and experiement, always fun with PC customisation.

Anyway my problems arised almost instantly when it came to removing the stock fan. The larger screws found around the card were easy to remove, but unfortunately the smaller screws on the backplate X thingy I cant remove. ( pic of card rear here http://www.ixbt.com/video3/images/re...-scan-back.jpg) The problem is that I don't know what size screwdriver is required to remove them.

I've already made the mistake of going out any buying any old set and none of them fitting. If anyone knows the screw size would be of great help thanks.

Also did I make a good decision with the VF1000? It was sorta an impluse buy when buying a 900 and trying to make the most of next day delivery on ebuyer.

Hmm, can't see the picture but I can recommend buying a set of jeweller's screwdrivers. Well worth investing in a set, they're good for all sorts of small screws - from graphics cards to glasses.

You do get small jewelers cross-head screw drivers, or is the screw not cress-head?

It's a very good cooler indeed, you'll have no problems with it temps or noise wise

Re: New VGA Cooler for 4850 help

I cannot seem to find a picture of the rear of the card with a working link. Search "4850 back" in google images and it will bring up some nice results bear in mind its the screws on the X shapped backplate im having trouble with.

The smallest crosshead is just a bit to big and I have one flat head that sorta fits the flat part of the crosshead screw and one thats too small.

If anyone has replaced/upgraded the stock fan on a 4850 there input would be most appricated thanks.

Thanks for the reasurance format, im hoping to squeeze a bit more outta the 4850
