Funny your saying this on the graphics card section of an enthusiasts website!! :P The more the advanced Gaming Women in the world the better!!
Talking about women is less interesting than being with one though!! :)
Anyway back to the poll.
Nvidia in the lead with 21 and ATI close second with 20. DX9 cards in third with....3!! Oh well!

Re: What graphics card have you got?
Now I don't want to get into the whole who is right an wrong is this little spat but using the Tom's Hardware ( I know ) hierarchy chart (link) the best DX9 cards fall below the HD4650/3850 and the 8800 GT 256MB/8800GS they do however beat the lower cards which I would not class as gaming cards even if they are marketed as such.
Anyway the important thing is that a modern card costing ~£55 will beat an old top of the line DX9 card (which cost significantly more when it was bought), but perhaps the most important thing is if you (who owns the card) is happy with the performance you are currently getting? If you are then an upgrade while maybe beneficial is not required.
Re: What graphics card have you got?
Hoping to pickup a 1gb 4870.. currently with a 7600 GT going into a new build until I pickup the new card.. I don't know if the 7600 even works :S

I forgot to mention I meant mid settings with AA. I would say from personal experience the X1950XTX gives half the performance an 8800gtx would roughly. (Depending on the game)
Re: What graphics card have you got?
I have two 7900GS 256 MB in SLI / E8400 and the performance is quite close to a 8800GS stock, 8.8k+ is the score in 3DMARK06.
You can have a decent gaming rig with old GFX card´s, and spend low cash, since you can buy then for nothing todays.
The question is what do you need ? What do you expect from one old card? I rather have two old Hi end 7 series card´s than one MID END 8 series card (8600GTS), because you can buy then for nothing as i said and the performance is better, in most cenários. (Hi end 7 series vs Mid end 8 series)
For my need´s is a Hell of a fun card´s, i dont care if is 'old", since i´m runnig GTR Evolution at HIGH/MEDIUM settings and A.A level 3 enabled (1280x1024). Perfect playable (80+ fps), and i spend less than half the price of one 8800GT on my card´s.
For the buget guys, is an option...
See ya guys
Re: What graphics card have you got?
I've got/had the following cards:
x800gto 256mb
x1800xl All in Wonder 256mb
x1900 Crossfire edition (same as x1900xt) 512mb
HD 2900gt 256mb
9600gt 512mb (xfx alphadog edition)
Re: What graphics card have you got?
The mid-end card for the 9 series is the 9600GT from the middle of last year. The 8 series has been replaced though a series of rebrands and new releases and is considered discontinued for a while now.
The 8600GT/8600GTS was discontinued many months ago as a result. The 9600GT which replaced it has over twice the performance of an 8600GT for around 75 quid brand new. Overclocked the 9600GT even challenges the 8800GT in some games.
The 8600GT was given a 55nm rebrand as the 9500GT gddr3 . However at this price point at around 60 quid the HD4650 GDDR3 and HD4670 have totally destroyed it too offering twice the performance(a bit slower than a 9600GT still).
On top of that the HD4650 GDDR2 can be had for around 50 quid which again is a faster card than a 8600GT or 9500GT.
In the last year the performance of mid-end and low level cards has change significantly when compared to the previous generations. This is great for the consumer!! :)
Re: What graphics card have you got?
Nice info, i already know about the 9 series, but at the time i bought my card´s there where no 9 series card´s, only 8 series, they where not launched yet.
I know that MID 9 series are far more faster than my current RIG, but in the end, what really matters, is what i need, not what nVIDIA want me to do, and even with those OLD card´s i can run every one of my games with decent resolutions and quality settings.
Not trying to make a case here, but sometimes you can spend very low cash and have very average performance. I´m a buget guy and spend half the price of one 8800GS and i do have close performance. Get my point?
Se ya.

I agree. Unless you really need to play the latest games older cards still do the trick . However I have seen 8800GS cards(basically the same as the 9600GSO),8800gt 256mb, HD3850 and HD3870 cards go for between 40 to 55 quid brand new from reputable retailers in the last few months.
At this price I would rather get a new card and sell the old one. Also crossfire( I have a motherboard which supports it) does not always scale well in all games and I have never been a big fan of it.
Also PCWorld were doing clearance 9600GT cards for a tenner too over Christmas!! I missed out unfortunately!! :(
Also newer games like Farcry 2 actually run better under DX10 in Vista than DX9!! It has taken a while but this is a good development!!

Which by definiton is a blanket statement as you dont seem to know the difference between mid range and budget

According to you.It seems you do not have a clue either.
Anybody would realise that an HD4870X2 or a GTX260 is not a budget gaming card. The budget gaming cards are in the poll as are mid-range and high end ones.

Please at least start to admit you are tied up in knots.
This thread has been started by yourself when you dont even know the argument you are trying to put across
I am actually starting to feel embarassed on your behalf now. so at least attempt to quantify a 'budget' card from a 'mid range' card to put some credibility to this, as you are making all this up as you go along.

Neither do you. Everybody is right on the internet so you think your right and I think I am right too. Why should I feel embarrassed on a forum?? I may want to argue my point across but if you can feel embarrassed on a hardware forum it is obviously a greater part of your life than mine!! :)
I post on this forum because it is fun at times and not for any other reason.
