    Evga gtx 260 sc

Just bought the above card. I know it's superclocked but it is running at 80-86 degrees idle!!!! I crashed out of WoW earlier, that is when I noticed the temps.

I've got a Antec 1200 (all fans set to low, turning them up didn't make much difference). abit AW9D Max, Enermax Infinity 650w, E6600, 44GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 CAS 4-4-4-12, DHX and Creative SoundBlaster X-FI Xtreme Music.

    CPU: 32
    System: 34
    PWM1: 40
    PWM2: 41
    PWM3: 44
PWM4: 39 (these are from abit UGuru, can us a different programme if it helps)

The cable management is okay and there is nothing too near the graphics card (can get pictures later).

    Any thoughts???

    Re: Evga gtx 260 sc

rma those should be your load temps not your idle temps.

you could try underclocking it & remounting the heatsink

    Re: Evga gtx 260 sc

why would you underclock a card you paid good money for ?

check the fans are spinning and ramping up to 100% in game, rivatuner should allow you to log whats going on with the GPU fan

    Re: Evga gtx 260 sc

    Used this settings on Riva:

    Duty cycle min: 60
    Duty cycle max: 100
    T min: 49
    T range: 32
    T operating: 110
    T low limit: 0
    T high limit: 110

As you can see the fan speed is near 100% idle and still at 74 degrees.

EVGA do not void the warranty if you remove the heatsink, its up to you if you have some decent thermal paste it may be worth you taking the heatsink off to make sure its made good contact and check the thermal goop is in place.

otherwise RMA time as thats way to hot.

    Re: Evga gtx 260 sc

just as a measure, i have 2 of these exact cards and they're running at 51'C and 57'C idle and go upto around 80-85'C load.

so there's definitely something wrong with your card at those temps

If you have to underclock it or re sit the heatsink, you might as well RMA it, saves effort, and you could break it, unlikely, but possible.

    It's 4.98*

Okay I turned all fans on the Antec 1200 to high and opened the window (it's on the window ledge) and got it down to:
    CPU: 23
    System: 21
    PWM1: 26
    PWM2: 24
    PWM3: 28
    PWM4: 22

    Idle GPU: 53-55
    Playing WoW: 80-85

The fan speed is down idle too

    same as my temperatures now.
you should be fine with them like that
now you just need to find out why you need it sitting in your window with all the fans on full to get the temps that low.

messed about with the heatsink at all?
    maybe nudged it a little?
