    Best card for dual-screen setup

I've got a Dell Vostro 400 and looking for a graphics card that supports dual monitors.

I haven't even decided on the monitors but have been leaning towards the Dell 2007FP. The resolution on these screens is 1600 x 1200, but I may even go for the Dell 2408 which runs at 1920 x 1200.

I don't do any gaming whatsoever but occassinally the kids may want to play some games, but nothing too intensive (kids are only 4 and 6yrs), so its really for a work environment.

I've read the reviews and the Sapphire 4670 card has good reviews and seems to have everything I want. I'm just not sure if it will support two screens at the native resolutions stated above, which come to 3200 x 2400 or 3840 x 2400 - will this card be up to the job?

Also, the Sapphire 4670 comes in various flavours, but can only find one version that has dual inputs, is this the one I should go for? item=15393 in hexus reviews. If not, any recommendations most welcome.

    thanks

Just about any 4670 or even 4650 would be fine for dual monitors and light gaming. Sapphire are a good company, you wouldnt go wrong with them.

This one will keep things quiet. If your runnign two DVI monitors then you will need a HDMI to DVI adaptor.

This is a little less powerful but still perfectly capable for what youw ill use it for

Even this would be more than adequate.

Though the 4670 itself is fine I wouldn't pick that particular one for dual DVI monitors, it looks as though the spacing between the HDMI and DVI ports is too small. With an adapter on the HDMI port surely there won't be sufficient space for two DVI connectors to line up next to each other?

True, you could use the adaptor on the other end of a HDMI cable though.

Next one up on scan with dual DVI is http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB...ual-Link-DVI-I

Although novatech seem to be doing some decent ones at the moment http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s....html?NOV-4670

The Novatech one seems to be the best value for money one at the moment! If the picture is accurate then the card is this one:

Re: Best card for dual-screen setup

Ok I've finally made up my mind, this is what I've agreed on, after reading so many reviews, posts and other suggestions.

    Decided on:

    1) 4670 range as it offers the best price / performance
    2) Sapphire cards as they come with a good reputation
    3) must have dual DVI, don't want any adapters to 'keep it clean and simple'

Good news is that the above is available. However, I'm having trouble sourcing it as it seems to have gone off the radar, lots of sites have it as discontinued. Typical, do my research and find a card and they appear to discontinue it!!

Still appears on Sapphire web site.

Anyone know where this card is still available from?

    (quickcode 149184 from ebuyer).

    thanks again
