    Re: help?

I'd say see if you can get a better one but until we know your budget we can't really say.

How much you willing to spend and what will the rest of your pc specs be.

    Edimax EW-7728In 802.11n v2.0 300Mbps wireless PCI card £27.23

650W TX Corsair PSU, single 12V rail, energy efficient, quiet & cool, fully compatible, 5yr warranty £78.76

    1TB Samsung HD103UJ Spinpoint F1, SATA 3Gb/s, 7200 rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.9 ms, NCQ £66.34

    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2, PC2-8500 (1066), 240Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-15, EPP £53.33

    LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±R, 16xDVD±DL, DVD+RW x8/-RWx6 ,12xRAM SATA, Black, OEM £16.43

    AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition, Deneb, S AM2+, 3.0GHz, 8MB Total Cache, HT 2000MHz, 125W, Retail £155.47

    1GB XFX HD 4890, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), Mem 3900MHz, GDDR5, GPU 850MHz, Cores 800, 2x DL DVI-I/HDTV £164.99

    Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P, AMD 790X, AM2/AM2+, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), DDR2 1066/1333, SATA 3GB/s, RAID, ATX £94.30

    22" Acer V223WBbd, Black, Widescreen LCD Monitor, 5ms, DVI/VGA, 1680x1050, 10000:1, HDCP, Green! £120.72

CM Storm Scout Mid Tower Black Case w/o PSU (Gaming) £79.91

    Total
£872.71-£13.24 shipping = £860 or their abouts from scan.

Bear in mind that is using the whole of your budget, the GFX card is very high end and could be downgraded to a 4870 to suit your needs, the processor could also be swapped for a X3 720 which would probably serve you just as well for surfing and gaming, plus scan run today only offers which could knock another £20-30 off if the processor and ram and GFX card are on offer.

Noticed you had a sound card in their as well plus are using ginger, any specific reasons?

The Phenom II X4 940 is as fast as the Q9400 which has more cache than the Q8400:

    This looks a solid build!

Things I would change from this build to bring the cost down:

1.)Change the case to the Antec 300 which costs around £43

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143854

2.)If you do not want to go crossfire at a later date then this cheaper 790GX motherboard will do the job for around £72:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Biost...ID-OnBoard-VGA

3.)If you do not want to overclock then a 760G or 780G motherboard will do the job for around £50 to £60.Even a 770 motherboard will do the job as long as it has the SB700 southbridge.

4.)Drop the card down to an HD4870 1gb and you will save around £30.

    5.)Replace the Phenom II X4 940 with a Phenom II X3 720.

Here is an overclocking review of the Phenom II X3 720:

    http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpu...ii-x3-720-be/1

Also check the Scan Today Only webpage and if you have 20+ posts on Scan you can free postage for orders over £20 excluding VAT.
