    Using an old Graphics card?

    Hello just wanted to ask about using an old Graphics card as a plug through for a monitor?

    Ive got a ATI fire GL 256pro with two monitors running off it - 21" NEC LCD, and a 19" Taxan CRT which is great but....

    I have an old Hanson 17" kicking about and an really old Voodoo and was wandering, could I use the voodoo to get a third monitor running, because it would be in the PCI slot?

    The FireGL is a dual head monster and so I would technically be running three graphics cards or would XP or the graphics cards throw a fit?
    Driver compatibility with ATI with century old 3DFX?

    If anyones ever done this? and might offer some warnings of the hell I'm about to unleash it would be good

    Call me a ponce but I thought it might be a laugh!

    The theory works perfectly, i set up my mates pc last with with an ATI Radeon 9800 XT int AGP slot, and a 9200 in the PCI slot. Granted using the same driver set, but no problem with 4 screens at all!

    I'd say just give it a try, shouldn't do any damage!

    P.S: u should find some old 3DFX enhanced games and whatch them run, its quite funny some of the stuff they cud do then!

    You know that voodoo 1 or 2s are 3D only and won't run a desktop, they need a 2d card like a matrox millenium for that.

    Oops forgot about that..

    Thanks though, so I could probably do it with a cheap 2D PCI card.

    I've done it before, so it should work. Drivers can be a pig sometimes though especially if the cards are by different manufacturers.

    The best way to know is to try.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
