ubuntu 9.10 and more than 2 monitors

    Hi

I've just upgraded my machine replacing the motherboard with a Asus M4A785TD-M EVO so now I've got onboard graphics as well as my ATI X1800. The X1800 is driving my 2 22" Samsungs but I was wondering if I could configure a 3rd or even 3rd and 4th screen using the onboard graphics? Is this possible? has anyone done anything similar that might give me a clue how to configure it?

First off, the obvious problem with ports, do you have more than two?

Second, is the graphics card Eyefinity enabled (I would asusme not)?

If you do not meet both of these effects you cannot have more than two moniters per GPU.

And since it is intergrated graphics, you'll be better off with just one.

Re: ubuntu 9.10 and more than 2 monitors

I've got 2 DVI's and S-Video ports on my X1800 card and D-sub, DVI and HDMI ports integrated on the motherboard. No I don't have one of those new Eyefinity cards but yes I have 2 GPU's one on the X1800 PCI-e graphics card and the other HD 4200 integrated on the motherboard.

I've tried connecting a third screen to the D-sub port on the motherboard but I get no signal and it's not detected by ubuntu as far as I can see. I was wondering if I need to adjust a setting in the bios? Maybe it's default is to do hybrid crossfire but I don't really know anything about that.
