Looking for a PCI (not PCI-E) graphics card

    Hey all,

I'm looking for a PCI graphics card for a server. There is currently a PCI-E card that is failing but honestly I could do with freeing up the PCI-E slot for other uses. Graphics aren't important as the server is mostly managed remotely and doesn't deal with any graphics intensive work.

    Anyone got any ideas?

There's usually a couple available from dabs/ebuyer/other standard online store. The other option is ebay, but if it's a business purchase then probably a proper purchase would be better. You pay a premium for an out of date card but they still exist!

Re: Looking for a PCI (not PCI-E) graphics card

I found a couple new based on a Nvidia 8400GS, 512MB for £40, or an ATI for similar money. However, for the moment I have a roaring 1MB S3 Trident card installed. The pixels on the screen do not refresh properly but seeing as I don't use the screen 95% of the time it seems to do the job in getting the PC to start, reboot and run reliably.

This is not for buisness use, just me home server.

Many thanks, but I think for that cost and for what it is (albeit with 7x the memory of the current card), I might just as well buy new.
