    Re: Hd 5970

    yes.

Until the 6990 is released (which should be within the next few weeks, AFAIK), the 5970 is the fastest graphics card in the world anyway (give or take a bit or argy bargy with the GTX580). But I wouldn't buy one now, because the 6990 *is* due soon and should be a fair bit faster...

    Re: Hd 5970

Ok thanks for that because I ve one HD 5970, not sure whether to buy another HD5970 or get two 6970s or 50s and unlock them or what.

Ps you still have an 8800 in your rig. They were the greatest of cards, just too hot, mine burnt out about 5 months ago, that's when I got the HD 5970

    Re: Hd 5970

HD5970s are still the fastest single card solution. They'll remain that until, like said, the GTX590 (IIRC) and HD6990 are released this month.

Remember that you can get a single 5870 and run tri-fire.

    Re: Hd 5970

Thanks I was wondering if that would work.

The prob is right, all these cards coming out are saying you can run the game at max settings.

But this is only on one screen, being a new eye infinity user, now hooked. You need some awesome power just to get a half picture on the more demanding games.

Hopefully in the nxt few days we will hear how the 6990 is going.

if i bought another 5970 even with all the mods you can do still going to have temp issues and the RAM bottle neck may prove my first limit so I heard the 5970 don't scale very well.

may getting two 6950s and unlocking them with faster clocks may be an idea. or an 6990
