    Re: New Graphics Card (£100ish budget)

    Got the money together now - ready to order. Going to go for the HD6850 unless;

    I have managed to allocate enough funds to get a HD6870. The only question I have with it is with regards my PSU. Would a Corsair HX450 have enough juice for a HD6870 or am I cutting it too close with this one?

    Thanks for all the advice guys.

    At load an HD6870 1GB has around the same power consumption or slightly higher power consumption than an HD5850 1GB:

    It also means that an HD6870 1GB has lower power consumption than an HD4870 1GB and your HX450W should be fine.

    Thanks Cat.

    I tend to prefer the Sapphire brand and I'm looking at these two at the moment.

    Am I right in thinking the custom cooler would be quieter and more efficient than the reference design?

    The custom cooler would be better but is not rear venting.

    However,I would not pay more than £170 for an HD6870 1GB otherwise for around £180 to £200 you maybe able to get a GTX560TI or HD6950.

    Edit!!

    You can get an Asus HD6870 for under £170:
