Sounds as if the file is corrupt. Download all of the latest drivers from http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Uninstall all the old video drivers and re-install with the new ones.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

not sure that's the solution. I've tried 4 different driver installs - they couldn't all be corrupt could they?

Unnecessary in my experience. No doubt someone will argue differently but in all my years of gaming with nVidia hardware, using beta and WHQL driver releases, I've never had to resort to third party software for maintaining stability or performance.

Have you tried installing the drivers in advanced mode? Select "Custom (Advanced)" on the "Installation options" screen, followed by "Perform a clean installation".
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Yeah I tried this already i've tried installing nothing but the actual Graphics Driver and clicking clean install.

It's so weird, when i open up the nvidia cp, if im quick i can click on another sub-menu that isn't '3d management settings' and can play around with the cp just fine, but as soon as i click on '3d management settings' the thing crashes again....

You say you just put a new card into the system, what did you have before? Might be helpful if you filled in the system details in your profile.

I suspect that's where the problem the lies then - a driver clash.

Regarding that image, those are old drivers. Try the newer ones: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/win7-...driver-uk.html (Note: these are UK versions)

For reference: The newer control panel version is 3.8.812.0, you're showing 3.5.860.0.

Re: Please help - Nvidia control panel keeps crashing

As I said, I'd be inclined to believe that there's still a driver clash. Have you tried other things such as checking Windows Update, temporarily disabling your antivirus software, ensuring your other device drivers are up to date? How drastic for you would a fresh Windows install be?

Apart from that, I'm pretty much out of ideas, sorry

Re: Please help - Nvidia control panel keeps crashing

Update, installed the newest beta drivers and of course it crashed but now it tells me that the error relates to the following files:
    C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\WERD96D.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
    C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\WERF1ED.tmp.appcompat.txt
    C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\WERF400.tmp.mdmp

    Any idea what this means??
