It's a constant battle for sales, trouble is joe public can get confused. Especially at a time like this, when new cards are hitting the streets. Makes you wonder if the card companies instigate some of these articles?

There's always the omega drivers too... they tend to offer better visual quality.

Should there be any necessity for Omega's (bless their lil cotton socks), if nvidia & ATI wrote more competent drivers?

Pity they cant do anything for ATI's poor linux & non existant 64bit windoze support.
Yes, that really does annoy me - it took me three days of work to get ATi's drivers to work on Linux. Even then, they are painfully slow.

Great cards (as are nvidia's), crap drivers. Shame really as it's going to influence a buyer's decision, if they use Linux/BSD.
In their defence, Windows XP 64bit is still in beta, but if you feel daring, you could try Windows XP 64bit Catalyst BETA - for the braaaaaaaaaave people... ...
Valid point, & I hadn't seen those. Last time I looked u had to try & sign up to their beta testing program. Still, nvidia's 64-bit drivers hav been around a while.
And what abt 64bit linux anyone? Currently flakier than a leper's jockstrap.

Theres nothing wrong with liking one company over another, but when people are making different rules for what they consider to be acceptable in image quality, depending on their company preference, its just silly.

I really couldnt care less, nvidia n ati can 'cheat' all they like as long as it gives me good performance. i dont see why it matters so much. jus so people can complain about sum getting 100 more 3dmarks, i mean ffs.

Tbh, whomever gets best bang for buck is going to get my purchase.
Also i have only just got a radeon 9800 so i dont plan on upgrading for at least a year.
