Performance hit?

I run my 6870 into a pair of monitors, one running 1920x1080 and one 1680x1050..

I play a lot of BF3 and have noticed that even with everything set to minimum and with vsync on I get microstutter and for 5/6 seconds at a time I get a good drop of 10fps (from my synced 60) for a while..

Would I be better off swapping the older lower res monitor out for one the same res as the other or should I be looking elsewhere?

Spec of machines not ultra but should be enough to play the game at low settings..

I'm a bit confused by your question, or maybe by the idea of micro stutter on a single GPU. The way I understand it is that micro stutter is an SLi/Crossfire issue where one GPU takes longer to complete a frame leaving the other hanging while it waits for the results from the first GPU. But you are getting a micro stutter issue with a single card. Do you still get the same issues when you disconnect the second monitor?

From my experience KeyboardDemon is right. I doubt it's the card Trig, has this only recently started happening?

are you playing the game in dualscreen? Having a different res is probably whats screwing with your card.

Try single monitor mode first, i doubt its microstutter from the card itself unless its a crossfire setup

It could just AMD's so-so compatibility with the Frostbite engine?

Your machine should be capable of running at high, nevermind low!!

My Q6600 + GTX580 with 4GB RAM was capable of running a mixture of High and Ultra..

Here's what I'd do:

1) Remove drivers completely
2) reinstall laters drivers
3) try it again
