Anyone have any experience with the MSI R7870 Twin Frozr III?

    Afternoon folks,

Does anyone have any experience with the R7870 Twin Frozr III?

I'm ready to pull the plug on the 7870 and I'm torn between the Sapphire (Dual Fan), Gigabyte (Windforce x3) and MSI (Twin Frozr III) Versions of the card.

There are flawless reviews of the Gigabyte and Sapphire cards, but the MSI 7870 is nowhere to be found on the review sites. I know its gonna manage the cooling, but its the overclocking I'm after.

The Sapphire and Gigabyte cards aren't actually out yet so you'll struggle to find retail bought reviews/experience.

    MSI cards are out though.

Erm, the MSI cards may be out but there are no reviews.

Oh and I can purchase the Gigabyte card for Order on request, so that it technically out.

Either way, the Sapphire and Gigabyte cards have been extensively reviewed already, but the MSI Twin Frozr card hasn't seen the light of day in terms of review sites, which is rather odd considering the designs popularity.

I would have said you can't go far wrong with either Gigabyte or Sapphire and the underlying card is essentially the same. I think Ebuyer is showing a bit of stock of the Sapphire cards but I suspect stock won't be an issue in a week

I've not been a big fan of MSI stuff after having a large number of reliability issues with one of their motherboards a while ago.... worked in a company where they had about 150 pc's ran on MSI mobo's and we had about a 20% ish failure rate of the onboard network among a couple of other issues. It was a while ago but I guess I hold a grudge

PS I've just put an order for the Sapphire stock 7870

I have also got a sapphire stock 7870 on the way chates

I would suggest getting the sapphire version of the card as i have never had a problem with sapphire cards. They have good reliability on speed, heat and noise.

The gigabyte card has shown fantastic cooling in expense of noise if that is a problem. But is nicely overclocked but not in stock yet

MSI are a good brand for graphics. The cooling is fantastic.

I would pick either a sapphire or a msi...however because of the cheaper price and better reliability i picked sapphire.

    Hope this helps.

Yep, TFIII is probably going to surprise you. When strapped to a 7870 I suspect good temps but it seems a bit noisy. A review came online at Techpowerup days ago, it proved a nasty surprise imho.
