I had a Gainward 6800GT, but sent it back. Wouldnt run stable at the guaranteed speed of 400/1100. Show's how much testing they do of their cards before they ship them out, last Gainward I'll ever get.

Did you disable Fast Writes? That can cause problems also need to match 2D and 3D clocks to make stable.

Seems Gainward have a "wrong" bios on some of the 6800 cards and thus the clock speeds are all wrong. If you read the post by torbjorn then you will see that there are some new bioses for these cards.

Before flashing - I would recommend contacting gainward to see if you are covered by their RMA policy in the unlikely event that an issue arises when you flash the card with the correct/updated bios.
