Actually looking closely the cheap ones at microdirect seem to be 128bit ddr so forget them.

Aren't all 9800Pros supposed to have 256-bit memory? I thought they could only cheat with that on the SE's... and even some of the 9800SEs have 256-bit memory interface, so I really doubt a Pro could have 128-bit, wouldn't make sence

There is a big thread about it somewhere (might not be this forum) but they are 128 bit ones read the spec.

they should be 128Mb memory, and 256bit bus width. evesham have their own brand 9800 Pros for £125 also...if places are selling 128bit 9800s as pros they need shooting.

there's little or no difference between 9800 Pros.

I got my 9800 PRO from Microdirect and it's fine, 256bit. Did the XT BIOS upgrade as well - perfect, no artifacts! Think mine is a genuine ATI

The difference between the two is that the Connect3D is reference design whereas the sapphire is sapphire's design of the card. They should both have 128MB of Graphics RAM and a 256-bit bus width. It has been said that _some_ 9800 Pro's have 128-bit bus but they're extremely rare. Mainly the SE's have 128-bit bus.

I've got a Connect3D 9800 Pro and it performs excellent, no driver issues or anything like that just a straight forward reference looking card. Plus, they're cheap

Connect 3D are a good brand, I personally wouldn't buy Sapphire because I had a lot of problems with a Sapphire 9200 I bought, build quality was poor, and thier web site suXor tbh (unless they`ve improved it radically since then).

I have an Sapphire 9800 PRO in my main machine no problems with it, and it works just like any 9800 PRO (more or less). Be careful though, because Sapphire are one of the companys who produce 128bit memory BUS 9800PRO's.

Ohhh yes, indeedy. There is a nice little thread here infact. http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.p...708#post247708

You want the BUS info of the card your going to buy, when its actually in your machine? I'm sure there are loads of program out there that'll tell you that stuff. I don't have any, but I'm sure http://guru3d.com will help you out.
