    graphics card harikari.

My 9600XT has just taken it upon itself to remove itself from exsistance of the digital realm so I'm now running on a savage 4 fear the powah

So anyway, I'm now in the market for a new card. I'm looking wither at a 9700pro at retek for £88 or a 9800Pro for £125. I know the 9800Pro has more potential than the 9700pro but is it worth the extra exspense?

You can easily clock the 9700pro to 9800pro speeds with the proper cooling. The only problem i can see would be the ram. Can't exactly remember if it was 128bit or 256bit. You just have to remember that you can always flash the 9800pro to a 9800xt

I was thinking it would probably be worth the extra £38 for the 9800.

I would say go for the 9800pro and if you still arent happy with the performance then you can flash it to the 9800xt ( but you will have to upgrade the cooling i would think...)

Just as a note this 9600 get s very hot at the capacitors top left go the board get warm so I suspect the mower regulation is knackerd good an proper on it.

I've now got an artic cooler spare from the 9600 so cooling no problem. Hmmmmm 9800pro come to Daddeh

You still got the stock cooler for the 9600? Might be interested in it for a mess around

Go with the 9800pro , seems to be the best card around price wise atm
