MSI MEGA 180 Delux TV problems

    Hi all,

I have just put together a MSI mega 180 system in the hop eof replacing my, old DVD player and video recorder and to act as the central entertainment system for DVD, TV recording etc.

But i have hit a problem, although the build went really smooth with every thing working ok, instllation of win XP prof, and patches a all ok i have a problem. That is witht he display on via the TV out let.

When the system boots, the Bios, and windows load screen appear in colour, no problem but as soon as it finishes with the windows load, and you get the login screen up, the picture is set to the TV format but is in black and white, and looks like it is having a problem with the resolution. Has anyone else had this problem?

any help would be great as i am running out of ideas to get it to desplay correctly. I am using the built in Video card, so its all system defaults.

Any idea what the onboard graphics are?
You could always try newer drivers as the newer forceware and catalysts support special setting for TVs

I'm guessing your using the TV Out to connect to the tv then.
Tried booting with just a standard monitor attatched to see if it could be a prob with windows or you could try running a different tv as your main monitor and see if the problem still occurs.

[edit] sorry, didnt read the question

sounds like you need to change the driver settings from ntsc to pal for the tv-out

ok i found the solution, dont load the nvidia drivers and just use the widows default. i then get colour display, and can still play the DVD's etc great on the TV.

Only problem is the media software that comes with it does not like it having to use default drivers. So i loaded power dvd instead.

    Hi there

I am having a major (similar) prob with my mega 180 deluxe!

I live in the UK and have a sony vega trinitron tv.

I am using the athelon version of the 180 with svideo to tv out to me telly (using s-video to scart converter).

It works fine on the monitor but is in b&w on the TV.

Even the boot screens are in b&w inc. the bios screen.

I found the option in the bios to change output to pal and have done so.

I have also made sure in the graphics drivers that it is pal output.

erm... wtf's going on! i cant seem to find anyone else with the same problem ... the tv works fine other than that ... i have also tried a 2nd svideo cable incase it was faulty.

    any ideas peeps ? thanks.

This isnt a problem with the MEGA.

i have this and i dont have a MEGA! Colour on my monitor, colour on the TV, as soon as the NVidia drivers load it goes to black and white on the TV.

i uninstalled the card - and so it didnt have any drivers loaded...

but it still boots in b&w! (that shouldnt have any thing to do with windows drivers at all...)

i tried something else last night - the scart input on my vhs video.

    (also pal)

it does exactly the same as the tv except for just before windows actually boots. When it has the XP logo up on booting it is in black and white but while using the vhs input it flashes up in colour just before windows shows the welcome screen. Then the screen goes blank and it goes back to black and white again

    rar sorted!!!

On me telly there are two scart inputs.

I had to use the 2nd one and press the button for that twice - because then it sees that its actually using an s-video input thru an adapter rather than just a bare scart.

hoorah i can play games on me telly as well as watch films and music etc!! hoorah
