I have the option of a CHEAP new Gtx570 (a serious OC version) but, is it worth the wait for the next gen,
I only game at 1080p and most stuff runs ok on my 460, am i overthinking this?
any advice would be appreciated
thanks

The way I see it is that if you are happy with the current card (No really, are you???) then it depends on the total spend that you would have, taking into account how much you could sell your 460 for. If that amount isnt that much, then you have nothing to lose, and it means that you have a newer card to sell if and when you want to go to the next level after that.
Though in all honesty, if you are happy then why not stay on what you are on. New cards are coming out left right and centre, so you can carry on for now and then see the prices stabilize.

Thanks for the reply,
I can prob get £80 for my 460 and then i would have to find less than £90 to fund the 570,
do you think it's worth that?
Worth is a subjective term that is defined by how much you could get out of it. You mention in the original post that most stuff runs ok at 1080p, and it depends on how fussy you really are with the games. Also, a quick check on the completed listings for 570s shows them going in the range of £160-200, so the deal you are getting isnt that amazing (I know you said its an OC version, but you get my point).
I would wait until you seriously need more oomph, and put money towards one of the newer cards at that time, which hopefully will have better pricing.

+1, 1 GB is starting to be a pain at 1080p your going to lose some image quality in a small (but growing) collection of current games. So moving to a sub 1.5GB card isn't really going to help that in the future. Most of us want FPS and Image Quality (In single player games) so most of the older cards have the 'cores' but lack the VRAM (Nvidia 400-500). 28nm cards don't have the VRAM issue, 7850 2GB or soon nvidia version (or better). But if the games you play, play nice on the 460 keep on using it and then if you need to jump to 28nm you can. GPUs only get better and cheaper!

l think wait gtx660 will be better, it will coming soon. Or you buy a ATI 7850. or ATI 7950 even gtx670 if you have more money
My HD7850 overclocks like a beast and still remains less than 60C at full load, its hitting OC speeds equivalent to an gtx580 and possibly more as I still have more overclocking room. I'm really impressed. Of course it goes without saying overclocks are not a guarantee but 90% of the users I've seen are getting good overclocks.
I say wait. It's not like a 460 is completely useless but it is starting to show it's age.
