570 now or wait for 670 to drop?

Hey everyone.

I am just about to order my parts for my first build. I was going to get the 570 at around £220, but as the 670 has just been released I was hoping it would be £250-270. But I was wishing too much and it's £300+ which is out of my budget. I'm want to order the parts by June latest, so do I wait for the price to drop, wait for the 660 and hope they are a bit better performing then the 570 or do I just get the 570 and oc to make up a performance?
Any views or advice would be apprecieited!

Wait for the GTX670 to drop in price?? Having said that,GTX570 cards can be had for under £200 now,so it does look much better value for money.

It seems the GTX670 is around a third faster overall:

Of course it also has more VRAM too,and due to the more agressive core boost on the GTX670,I suspect you will see bigger gains from overclocked a GTX570(I could be wrong here).

Early results show the 670 hitting 7200mhz on memory and over 1300mhz core speed this was on a gigabyte 3X windforce model, how long the card will last at those speeds is another question lol.

I also suspect the 670 will drop in price, managed to bag one before the price increase, Ebuyer had the MSI OC models for £295 at one point and the EVGA SCs for £312 which is the one I got. Problem is their really is no competition against it till AMD drop their prices again, I suspect the 7970 will drop in price and this will follow.

Okay,I guess the 570 will be my card. I'd rather have last gen card then have to skimp on other componats. Thanks for the advice. Is there any info on a 660 release?

The Gigabyte card uses a GTX680 PCB unlike some other GTX670 cards.

However,the GPU does boots itself to between 1200MHZ to 1300MHZ for periods,but if you look at many of the reviews,cards are hitting around 1100MHZ to 1200MHZ anyway,dependent if the card is running at reference speeds or is a pre-overclocked one.

If you wait till summer and the 660 also being around I would not be surprised if the base 670's are £250+ and 7950's £240 or less. Right now the 670 and 680 have launch premuims on them although the 680's are starting to head for £400.

570 is a great card, 670 is way better so it's all about if you want to add another 570 later for better FPS or Just throw in a 670 job done. Even with mild OC 670's behave like 570 sli or 590's! So 3d becomes very easy even at high FPS and tons of games can be run in surround not to mention even demanding games running at 60 FPS+.

At £300-330 670 is one of the best GPU's yet. At £250 it's a insane GPU!

Some can be unlocked, many OC'ed just as much as a 680 so they are really great GPU's. The only thing now is how a 660 compares to 570 or 670 on price VRAM and FPS.

The thing is when the price of 670 drop, 770 will be on the market. There will never be an end~~.
l think 670 is best on the market now, some benchmarks shows it beats the AMD 7970 which is 400+ card. 670 is below 350. if you want buy a cheaper card. l suggest you buy a AMD 6790.
Final word, buy early enjoy early!!!

If you don't want to go much over £200 I'd consider the AMD 7850. Overclocked it'll comfortably outperform a 570 and use a lot less power too.
