    Re: New GPU decision time!!

    Hi,

Just to confirm, a quick check of "completed listings" on Ebay shows that 1GB 6870's are going for £80-£100, so yep, you were guessing in the right ball park. If you are already a EBay member, they have got free listing from today (1st September) until the 9th, including buy-it-now, so as long as you don't mind loosing 10% in fees (plus Paypal fees), it may be a good time to do it! (free buy-it-now listings are quite rare - usually just for auction style).

    Cheers!

I think the only thing I would add is the 7950 rocks for Skyrim the 670 may have bit extra due to physx for borderlands 2 both are very decent cards. The only massive difference is a 670 will run below 70c most of time, even in pretty naff cases if you turn on Adaptive vsync in older games to limit the workload and Adaptive vsync doesn't have the gameplay nerfs vsync does. Either way barring these small difference they are brilliant cards and there is no wrong choice right now.

I would go for the 7950 without a doubt, 3 gig of mem and more compute power!

I would say pick one, that gots better discount
Either way this cards are good. If u play alot of games supported by Physx u should go with NVIDIA 600 series(TXAA in Secret World and Physx in Borderlands looks cool)

    Re: New GPU decision time!!

I would go for the 7950, simply bcoz it has more bandwidth, more compute, more VRAM, better PCB-components, better overclocking headroom.

The 7950 would last much longer into the future than the bandwidth starved 660ti and 670/680, The 7950 can be overclocked to beat the 670 if you ever needed to in the future, its an option you have if you ever needed. The 7950 is also much cheaper, in fact, its cheaper than the 660ti, thats ridiculous....

Are there actually many games that support PhysX? I remember there being a few, but nothing that made me think 'WOW'.... Borderlands 2 does look cool, but does PhysX hurt performance?

... I'm also now aware that there's a 3GB GTX 660 Ti, but i might still get a 7950 and buy a 660 Ti for my partners build (she wants a small gaming rig for the living room).

    Re: New GPU decision time!!

I decided to go for a 7950 in the end... It's the 'HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST' version (All the reviews were good for this card and it runs nice and cool ). I also get a few free games which include Sleeping Dogs, Nexuiz, Dirt Showdown and COD Modern Warfare 2 (getting old, but still ok). I bought a 'KFA2 Geforce GTX 660 Ti EX OC' for my partners new build... She wanted PhysX, and i didn't want to spend a fortune . I'm kinda hoping it comes with Borderlands 2 like every other Nvidia card at the moment.

AFAIK, the listing needs to mention Borderlands 2 for you to be sure. You may want to double check because it's the same on the AMD side too - not all 79'' cards come with the same games or necessarily even anything, depending on seller.
